Missed our Evolution of 70:20:10 launch? Get the full round up here!
As well as the research launch, the day featured inspiring guest speakers, a sneak peek of our latest products plus tons of debate, discussion and fun stuff to boot. Here's our wrap up of the main highlights.
Fabulous finches, health warnings and the evolution of 70:20:10
Owen kicked things off with a fantastic presentation to introduce the report. It covered our reasons for delving deeper into this topic, some important health warnings about 70:20:10, our research methodology and of course, the most interesting bits from our deep dive study of how 25 leading organisations are using 70:20:10 to drive change.
We were also transported back in time to our school biology lessons, with a recap of Darwin's theory of evolution which featured those fabulous finches. Their evolutionary history makes the perfect analogy to what we see happening with 70:20:10 today.
We caught up with Owen after his presentation to get his take on the report - watch his vox pop interview now! We've also made his presentation slides available on Slideshare too.

Evolving L&D - two great case studies
We love to showcase the great work we see happening across our industry. Peter Yarrow is Global Head of Learning and Proposition at Standard Life Aberdeen and is really pushing the boundaries of what "good" looks like in financial services L&D. He took to the stage to tell us about The Leading Edge Challenge Series, a major L&D project he led to support the merger of Standard Life with Aberdeen Asset Management and drive cultural change.
We also heard from James O'Mahoney, Head of OD at premium spirits manufacturer Edrington. He explained how the business has experienced exponential growth, going from local to global in the blink of an eye. James talked about the challenges of creating a modern L&D function to support such growth whilst keeping an eye on the future. We are proud to support both these organisations as they continue to evolve their L&D practice.

Now for something truly technical
Our Technical Director and peer-voted king of beards Jonny Anderson and was up next alongside Kirsten Wilson, Head of Product Development. They gave us an insightful presentation which explained how we go about developing and continually evolving our products at GoodPractice. Kirsten outlined a range of methods that we use to ensure end users are kept the very the core of what we do.
Management 101 e-learning
As well as taking on the day's hosting duties alongside our Marketing Director Keira Hodge, our inimitable Director of Learning and Performance Solutions James McLuckie presented a lively product showcase session.
James was keen to show off our updated and improved Management 101 e-learning suite. Taking inspiration from 80s film classics like Working Girl, the new modules tackle 20 essential leadership and management topics. Talk to us to find out more about Management 101.
The GoodPractice podcast - live!
To round off the day in style we recorded a live episode of #thegppodcast. Hosted by the one and only Ross Garner, What does 70:20:10 actually look like in practice? is available to download now. It features Owen plus special guests (& report participants) Mercy Kesenia Clement-Okooboh from Veolia Ireland and Aaron Bradley from Ashurst. We (and they!) enjoyed a glass of fizz while debating the ins and outs of 70:20:10 and taking questions from the floor.
Competitions and fun stuff
To keep everyone on their toes we ran a number of competitions throughout the day. Winner of 'best tweet' was Fiona McBride who scooped an Amazon Echo Dot. Runners-up for 'best tweet' were Marco Faccini and Wes Atkinson. Well done guys - we are loving your work! If you'd like to see more photos from the day, you can check out our photo gallery.
We also ran a cool competition as part of our event invites, which asked guests to work out the common name of their animal species from its Latin name. The winner was Jo Byrne who also got an Amazon Echo. Very well done Jo! Finally, we asked guests to test their evolutionary knowledge in our online quiz. Only three people managed to get all 10 questions right, and the lucky winner was Mark Baker - well done clever clogs!
Last but by no means least we want to say a HUGE thank you to our report participants, without whom there would be no report! Thanks to everyone who came along and joined us on the day - we hope you enjoyed the event as much as we did.
